Back from vacation
Well my vacation ws great! I absolutely loved it in Portland and Vancouver! It's completely different from Las Vegas and that's why I loved it so much! The weather is great although we didn't get any rain. I was hoping for some Portland rain. It's beautiful and clean there. The people are friendly and drive with respect which is nothing like Vegas. Even rush hour traffic wasn't that bad because no one was weaving in and out of lanes trying to get 3 cars ahead of you. We walked around downtown Portland which was so much fun. There is so much to do there and a lot of those things don't cost anything, in Vegas everything costs something. We went to many comic books stores and found the things we were looking for, including a Buffy the Vampire Slayer #1 the Art Adams cover. Score for me!! :) We went to the Zoo which was lots of fun. The only thing that I found odd which is something that I'll find almost anywhere else in the country is that places close early and there isn't a lot to do at night other than night clubs which isn't my scene. For example we stopped at a liquor store (we wanted to continue our buzz from happy hour) a little after 7:00 pm and they were closed! So we went to the grocery store and they don't sell hard liquor at the grocery stores there, only wine, beer and wine coolers. That's really weird to me since in Vegas so much is open 24 hours and alcohol is everywhere. But it's no biggie, that's stuff that you can adapt to. We drove around both Portland and Vancouver and looked at the homes which are so cute! I didn't see a single stucco house! We grabbed a newspaper from both cities and in Vancouver homes are $50k - 100k less than homes in Vegas. That's really cool because there's no way we could ever afford a home in Vegas at the rate the market is going here. We found out that Portland's economy isn't so good right now but that Vancouver is doing really well and also has better schools and jobs. After looking through the paper and seeing the city I don't think I'll have a hard time finding a job considering how much export goes on in that area. My husband and I both feel really good about it and we are going to move there as soon as we can. Our goal is within 11 months, we don't want to spend another summer here. I'm very excited and ready for this! Yay!
